Martin Gans is a private investor with offices in San Francisco. During his 40 years in the professional and commercial world he has invested in (often as a co-founder) and worked with a number of varied businesses in agriculture, branded food products, technology and real estate.
Currently, Marty is non-executive chairman of LSL Biotechnologies, Inc., a privately-held producer of fresh market tomato seeds which he co-founded in 1981. He also was an early stage investor in Odwalla, Inc. serving on its board of directors and as chairman of its audit committee (1992-2000).
Marty began his career with Touche Ross & Co. (today’s Deloitte & Touche) on its audit staff becoming a partner in 1974. His range of client responsibilities included Fortune 500 companies as well as start-ups which eventually came public. In 1978, he joined Sun World International, a major farming, packing and marketing company, which he served as executive vice president and chief financial officer through 1985.
Marty earned his M.B.A. from Northwestern’s Graduate School of Management and has a B.B.A. from The University of Miami. He is also a C.P.A. He lives in Kentfield, California with his wife Gwen; they have four grown children.
